Hard Hitting News

You heard it here first: President Biden incorrectly referenced touring pop stars. To be fair, the man is 81 and holds the highest office in our government. On the other hand, my 76 year old grandmother wouldn't know who Beyonce was even if she introduced herself in person.

The NPR article takes a more light-hearted and informative approach to President Biden's participation in the annual turkey pardoning event on his 81st birthday. It provides historical context, explaining the tradition of turkey pardons and how it has evolved over the years. The tone is generally neutral, and the article emphasizes the cultural aspects of the event.

Key points from the NPR article:

  • President Biden's age and the significance of his 81st birthday are mentioned at the beginning of the article.
  • The focus is on the tradition of turkey pardons, which is presented as a quirky and somewhat ironic practice involving presidential participation in an event sponsored by a lobbying group with different goals.
  • The article provides historical background, including President Kennedy breaking the tradition in 1963 and the humorous anecdote about President George W. Bush's dog, Barney, almost interfering with the event.
  • It highlights the expanding nature of the tradition, with other states and even a town in East Texas joining in on the turkey pardoning tradition.

On the other hand, the Fox News article takes a more critical and political approach, emphasizing President Biden's blunder during the event. It focuses on social media reactions, criticisms of the President's age and mental capacity, and includes comments from political figures mocking the incident.

Key points from the Fox News article:

  • President Biden's attempt at humor is portrayed as a mistake and is heavily criticized on social media.
  • Social media reactions, particularly those critical of Biden's age and mental capacity, are quoted in the article.
  • The article includes references to previous gaffes by President Biden, connecting them to concerns about his fitness for office.
  • There is a mention of a poll indicating a decline in Biden's support and warnings from political figures about his "age issue."

The difference in tone and emphasis between the two articles reflects the varying perspectives and priorities of different news outlets. NPR tends to focus on the cultural and historical aspects of the event, while Fox News emphasizes the perceived political implications and criticisms of the President.

  1. Thank you for putting both sides of the story up while adding some humor about your grandmother not knowing who Beyonce is.
While he does hold the highest office in the world and I'm positive it is the most stressful job there is a mental age that just does not work well with the added stress. I don't think a blanket age range would be the right move but a mental check every year or so to see if the person can hold the office and deal with the stress. I know plenty of 40 year olds that would not be able to do it but I also know older folks in there 70s and even 80s that are still sharp and driving.
As the election gets closer we should see more of the Republican news programs being more critical of Pres. Biden while the Democrat news programs nicer to him, unless another candidate decides to run then it would be interesting to see what the "left" sites and pundits start saying.
